Frequently Asked Questions
To help you plan your holiday, please find below some common questions we get asked. You can also download our Gite Welcome Brochure here...
How far is the nearest shop / restaurant?
The nearest village, Cherves-Richemont, is just a short drive/walk away (3 km) and offers a local bakers, mini supermarket, post office, pharmacy, tabac and even a small restaurant and pizza takeaway. A little further afield (7km / 10 mins drive) is the historic town of Cognac with it's larger shops, services, restaurants and of course the famous Cognac Houses. More information about the surrounding area can be found here and if you would like any recommendations then please just ask.
Does the mill have WIFI?
Yes, we have WIFI throughout the mill although as we are in rural France, it can be somewhat patchy at times.
Do you have a swimming pool?
Yes we have a fabulous large (12m x 6m) pool. The pool also has a large terrace area with loungers and shade and a fully equipped pool house with toilets. It has both a shallow and deep end and steps down to access. The pool area is fenced for safety and completely private and secluded with views out over the vines and woodland.
Is there a barbecue?
Yes, all the gites have their own private terrace and barbecues (charcoal) to make the most of those long, lazy summer evenings. For groups, we also have a large BBQ you can use and we can setup the barn so you can all eat together.
Do you provide bed linen and towels?
Of course! All gites come fully equipped with bedding, bath towels, tea towels etc. You will also have your own washing machine should you wish to clean these mid-week, as well as iron and ironing board. For those staying for more than 1 week, clean bed linen will be provided mid-stay for you. Please note, pool towels are not provided so you may wish to bring your own.
Does the gite have a hairdryer?
Yes, all gites come with hairdryers.
What else is included in the gite?
Each gite has a fully equipped kitchen and we include necessary cleaning products, a few toilet rolls and some dishwasher tablets and washing powder to get you started.
If you are travelling with children, we can also provide some of the important baby equipment, click here to find out more.
Is cleaning included?
The gite will be clean and spotless when you arrive. Upon departure we ask guests to leave the gite clean and tidy. Your security deposit will be used if the gite is not left appropriately.
Are pets allowed?
During the peak season, we apologise but no pets are allowed. We will consider guests bringing pets out of peak season and on an exceptions basis. Please contact us to find out more. We do also have two dogs that live onsite at the Mill - an overly friendly black labrador named Rémy and a rascal of a terrier called Martell. We also have a handful of free range chickens, a goat and a little black cat. They are all very friendly and can't wait to keep you and/or your children entertained!
What are the arrival and departure times?
Gites are rented on a weekly basis from Saturday to Saturday. Arrival time is from 5:00 pm and departure by 10:00 am. During the low season we may be able to be more flexible with times and rental periods. If you wish to rent for a longer period, please contact us to agree availability and prices.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
An initial deposit of 25% is required to secure your booking. The final balance should then be paid 8 weeks before the start of your holiday.
