Frequently Asked Questions
To help you plan your holiday, please find below some common questions we get asked. You can also download our Gite Welcome Brochure here...
How is the Mill ensuring they are COVID safe?
We can assure you that we have been keeping up to date with all the latest requirements and guidance in France to ensure that we are compliant and that our place is as safe as possible to welcome you. In accordance with this, we have had to make a few changes which are summarised below. If you would like to know before booking then please just get in touch:
We are trusting all our guests to follow the general guidance and be responsible and not travel if they or anyone in their party are showing symptoms or have been in recent contact with someone with Coronavirus. If this is the case, we will of course provide a full refund on your booking.
All our gites will of course be cleaned and disinfected thoroughly between guests and the recommended cleaning products and procedures adhered to at all times. Appropriate cleaning produces will also be available in each gite and in the shared areas.
Our barn and pool will be open for your use but with distancing and hygiene measures in place.
We are delighted that France is really starting to open up again now with cafés, bars, restaurants and tourist activities all open and available for you. Many places are limited numbers of people so you may need to book some activities online and masks are required in most shops etc so we advise you bring these with you.
What if I have to cancel my booking due to COVID related issues?
We know that travelling and booking holidays is a concern at the moment because of the uncertainty around COVID so we are being extra flexible. If you would like to make a booking with us then let us know, we will hold the dates for you but won't take any payment until a week before your arrival date. If you then need to cancel your trip after you have made payment we will either offer you a full refund or change your dates for free. So you can book with us and be assured that you won't lose any money if you do need to cancel or reschedule.
How far is the nearest shop / restaurant?
The nearest village, Cherves-Richemont, is just a short drive/walk away (3 km) and offers local bakers, butchers and restaurant. A little further afield (7km / 10 mins drive) is the historic town of Cognac with it's larger shops, services, restaurants and of course the famous Cognac Houses. More information about the surrounding area can be found here.

Which gite is best?
We offer four different gites and they are all unique in their layout, format and size. They each cater better for different guests because of their size. Find out more about the gites here and if you have any questions at all, just get in touch.
If you are a larger group, you can also rent the entire house exclusively, you can even have your wedding at the mill! Contact us for more information and rates.
Do you provide breakfast or any meals?
The gites are all self catering so you have everything you need on-site to prepare your own meals. However, we do know that you are on holiday and sometimes that means wanting a break from the day-to-day cooking and cleaning. With this in mind we would be delighted to give you a night off and prepare dinner for you, or perhaps create a gourmet picnic for your family day out. Get in touch with your requirements and we can discuss options and prices.
